Vals Liu
Visual Art & Design Professional
A lifelong professional artist, Vals has been passing on his endless passion for art to students for over twenty years. With his classical training and expertise in digital media, Vals aims to show students how they can blend past and present ways of doing art to make pieces that are both individualistic and in conversation with current topics and trends. Vals created the VSA Youth Art Foundation in 2020 to further pursue his goal of spreading the joy of being an artist.
Sophie Bao
Administrator & Education Counselor
Sophie brings to VSA Youth Art Foundation her wealth of experience in administrative and logistics-based roles at companies such as Unilever. She has been extensively engaged in art initiatives and charity bazaars since 2016. Led by Sophie, VSA Youth Art Foundation became the 2nd top fundraiser of “Help the Aquarium” during Covid under social distancing protocols in 2020 and has successfully built-up the “Youth Art – Kids for Kids” initiative project that attracts more and more young artists to join and support our community through artistic contributions.
Shirley Tang
Project Coordinator & Community Planner
Originally from China, Shirley immigrated to Canada with her parents in 1993. She spent her teenage years in Chilliwack, and has lived in Vancouver since 2001. Throughout her career, Shirley has worked in the nonprofit community as a Donor Stewardship Officer and Administrative Assistant. The campaign that she has worked on has raised in excess of $70 million dollars. When Shirley is not working, she enjoys listening to music and hiking with friends.
